Read on to discover the night routine checklist to jumpstart your evening rituals for success.

  1. Disconnect

Time to turn off all of your screens. That blue light actually prevents your body from producing melatonin. Melatonin is a hormone that tells your body it’s time to go to sleep. So getting off that phone, tablet or tv is crucial to your body naturally producing melatonin.

  2. Prep for the next day

Take just a bit of time to make tomorrow run smoother. Prep lunches, set out clothes.

If you have kids, make sure their stuff is ready to go to eliminate morning chaos.  Make a list of things you need to get done the next day. Look for anything that you can do now to make it easier.

That way, you won’t be feeling anxious about an anticipated hectic morning. You can relax and know your morning will run smoothly.

  3. Brew Tea

Herbal tea is a good way for your body to relax and unwind. Making this part of your nightly routine is a great way to signal your body that you will be going to sleep soon. Some great options are: Lavender, Chamomile or Passionflower

  4. Gratitude Journaling

Practicing gratitude is a great way to get your mindset in a place that is ready to sleep. This practice turns any negative thinking into positive thoughts and calms your mind and promotes a higher quality of sleep. Grab a pen and paper and write out everything you are grateful for that day. Or try this Gratitude Workbook with everything you need to transform your mindset with gratitude!

  5. Take a hot shower or bath.

Not only is this relaxing but this actually cools you down! Your core body temperature drops when you get out and helps cool you down so you are ready for sleep.

  6. Skincare

Skincare routines don’t need to be complicated. It’s a great way to relax and take a moment to care for yourself. I like incorporating in this Vitamin C Serum. I also have the rose and tea tree serums from Plant Therapy and alternate which ones I use if I want to hydrate, fight fine lines or combat blemishes.

  7. White Noise and Lights Out

You can use this time before you go to sleep to think about what you are grateful for. Try nighttime affirmations and visualizing the next day exactly as you want it to be as you drift off to sleep.

You can even try positive affirmations and deep breathing which I go into more detail in the Free Sleep Tools printable.

One of my favorites is to listen to guided meditations. I have created several and include them in my signature Restful Sleep video course. This course is a complete step-by-step resource to fall asleep and stay asleep naturally.
